ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini: Which for Which Task?
We ran the same 20 tasks on all three models. Here's what actually won.
The Setup
Twenty real tasks from our prompt packs — marketing copy, code review, data analysis, business planning — run identically on ChatGPT (GPT-4o), Claude (Sonnet) and Gemini. Same prompts, same inputs, three outputs each. We scored every result on accuracy, usefulness and naturalness.
ChatGPT: The All-Rounder
ChatGPT won the most tasks overall. It's the safest default: reliable structure, good tone control, and strong instruction-following. It loses on long-form prose, where its voice can feel generic, and on nuanced code review, where it sometimes misses subtle bugs.
Claude: The Writer
Claude produced the most natural long-form output in every writing task. Its prose reads like a person wrote it, not a model — varied sentence length, no filler phrases, no "delve" or "furthermore". For marketing copy, emails and anything a human will read, Claude is the pick.
Gemini: The Structurer
Gemini handled structured data and code with unusual precision. SQL generation, spreadsheet analysis and JSON output were consistently cleaner than the other two. When the task is "turn this mess into a table" or "write this query", Gemini is the tool.
The Practical Rule
Default to ChatGPT. Switch to Claude for anything a human reads. Switch to Gemini for data and code. Every prompt in our packs includes model-specific tips where the output differs — that's the whole point of testing on all three.
